About me
I hold an MA Psychology degree from Stellenbosch University and am a Registered Specialist Counsellor in the Southern Suburbs of Cape Town. I am a Psychology lecturer at SACAP (South African College of Applied Psychology) and have volunteered at Lifeline, the Depression and Anxiety Support Group, and CIC (Community Intervention Centre).
The Spark of My Passion for Psychology:
My journey into Psychology began at a young age, sparked by a deeply personal experience. At 19, I tragically lost my first love in a car accident. This event plunged me into a world of grief and depression. The hospital assigned me a therapist, but unfortunately, the experience left me disillusioned. Young and naive, I felt completely lost. Desperate for help, I yearned for improvement, yet felt trapped in a cycle of pain. I questioned the very purpose of therapy if it prolonged my suffering.
For a year, I navigated my grief alone, masking the heaviness within by maintaining an active social and work life. However, fate intervened when I was referred to a remarkable woman who became a turning point. Her empathy and guidance were transformative. Witnessing firsthand the stark contrast between ineffective and impactful therapy ignited a passion within me. I vowed to dedicate myself to the field of Psychology, determined to provide the positive change and support I so desperately needed and felt others deserved.
