The purpose of a relationship is not to make you happy! A relationship gives you the environment to make better choices of expressing a more loving aspect of yourself and to celebrate these choices. Too often we place expectations on our partners to do this or that in order for us to be happy. But this will only cause stress. Stress emanates from unmet expectations. A relationship is a conduit for you to be a better you - it's a place in which you can allow yourself to make better choices like to be more loving, to be more compassionate, to be more understanding, to be more trusting, to communicate better. A relationship is the crucible for your own personal growth. So you have 2 possible paths to take in a relationship - one which is joyful and fulfilling and another which creates stress, upset, jealousy (jealousy is present time fear of a future perceived loss). Choose the right path. - Peter Sage
